Kindergarten Tidbits

Hello, kindergarten parents and friends,

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of my parents for their support throughout the year.  We have made tremendous progress in all of our academic areas and are now concentrating our efforts in preparation for the upcoming TerraNova standardized tests which will take place the week of March 1st through March 5th.  As you are aware, kindergarten students are not involved in ISTEP testing; however TerraNova will give the younger students in grades K, 1, and 2 the opportunity to be involved in a standardized testing situation and will enable us as educators to help analyze the educational strengths and weaknesses in reading and math of all of our students.

We had a wonderful Catholic Schools Week.  The students, staff and parents enjoyed many fun-filled, yet educational activities which helped develop a stronger sense of Catholic identity.  Thanks to all for your help and participation in making this week such a great success.

As I write this, I hear birds chirping and the snow is actually starting to melt.  The students and I are observing the season of Lent by discussing random acts of kindness that can help others.  We are also coloring a Lenten butterfly which helps us "count" the days of Lent until we can welcome the wonderful celebration of Easter!

We will be having a kindergarten roundup and informational meeting on Thursday, April 22nd.  If you know anyone interested in our kindergarten program, please have them call our school office or invite them to come visit us.  The preschool teachers will also be holding an informational meeting at this time.  More details about this event will be posted soon.

May you have a Faith-Filled Season of Lent and a Very Happy Easter Sesaon-
