UNIFORMS

Students at Sacred Heart school are required to wear school uniforms. Requirements are detailed in the Parent/Student handbook. All uniform items are available thorough Schoolbelles Uniforms. Catalogs are available in the school office. In addition to the uniforms, students may wear a navy sweater vest, cardigan, or pullover sweater. Red or navy Sacred Heart sweatshirts may be worn anytime. Please mark all clothing with student's name. School uniforms are mandatory on Mass days (class or all-school). Students without a uniform will be issued a uniform from the surplus clothes or will be asked to call home for uniform clothes.

Tattoos, jewelry and make-up are highly discouraged. These items often cause distractions and can be offensive. Students may be asked to remove jewelry and make-up by a faculty, staff, or adminstration member. Students will be asked to remove glitter make-up before using school computers.

School uniforms are purchased through a company called Schoolbelles.

CASUAL DAYS

Casual dress is allowed on various days. From the first day of school until Tuesday after Labor Day casual attire is permitted. The first Monday of each month is also Casual Day. Casual attire must not contain any inappropriate sayings or suggestive language. Shorts must be at least finger tip in length. No tank tops will be allowed. School personnel reserve the right to question a student's attire on casual day and ask them to call home for a change of clothes if deemed appropriate. If no one is available, clothes from the 'lost and found' may be substituted for inappropriate attire. Shoes must follow uniform guidelines at all times. Flip flops or shoes without backs are inappropriate at any time. Casual days will be announced in the school calendar on a monthly basis.

DRESS PASSES

Dress passes will be issued through the Librarian and Technology Coordinator. School personnel may issue a dress pass for a variety of reasons. The dress pass will expire one month following its issuance. Casual dress expectations are expected with a dress pass. A dress pass CANNOT be used on a Mass day.

BOOTS

Boots are required during bad weather. Students are expected to bring a pair of boots daily to school. A boot announcement will be made both on the intercom and in writing (if possible). Boots are not to be left at school. Students without boots will be required to stand in a designated blacktop area of the playground during recess. They will be required to go out during recess but will not be able to play so it is important they have boots during bad weather. Continued lack of boots may warrant a school detention.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLOTHES

Physical education clothing is required on Tuesday and Thursday. Students are required to bring to a school a pair of shorts and a T-shirt to be worn during physical education. Students change into this attire for the physical education period. They are also asked to bring a pair to tennis shoes to be worn only during gym period and if recess is indoors and they are allowed in the gym. Daily worn gym shoes are not acceptable for gym class. Inappropriate shirt sayings will not be accepted. Students must remember to bring their gym clothes on Tuesday and Thursday. This clothing must be taken home and laundered daily. Students will not be allowed to call home for forgetting gym clothing or shoes.
