Scrip Program
Our Scrip Program is the primary method Sacred Heart Home and School Association employs
to raise funds for additional financial support of our faculty and students. With this program, HASA is able to
bring in substantial funds. These monies are utilized for a variety of projects and needs to enhance our
students' educational experience here at Sacred Heart School.
Seder Meal
Complete preparation for the celebration of the Passover supper. This meal takes place
a week before Easter.
Separated/Divorced Catholics
A support group for separated/divorced members of our parish.
Sign on Center Street
Volunteers needed to change the outdoor sign at Sacred Heart as necessary.
Single Adults/Young Couples (R.O.C.K.)
Young people, ages 19 to 40, that get together for social events and service projects.
Social Justice
This ministry informs and guides the parish on social justice issues such as
Right to Life.
Softball - Women
The Sacred Heart women's softball league starts practice in April with the first game in
May. The team averages one game per week during the season. You will enjoy the experience.
Softball - Men
The men's softball league is exciting and fun! We have two teams. Please join us.
Spiritual Development
This committee is set up to organize and plan a Parish Mission that is sponsored by the
Diocesan Office of Spiritual Development. They also see that follow-up on the Mission is accomplished.
Stewardship Committee
This committee strives to make the stewardship of time, talent and treasure understood,
practiced and nurtured in the lives of the parishioners. They help educate about stewardship, carry out the
annual renewal, prepare a ministry catalogue, publicize stewardship and work with all parish ministries to
ensure volunteers are contacted.
Telephoning
At times, volunteers are needed to make phone calls to parishioners about various
events or projects.
Today's Catholic Subscription Worker
Yearly gathering of parishioner subscriptions to Today's Catholic and forwarding
them to the publisher.
Transportation to Mass
Volunteers are needed who are willing to pick up and transport someone who is unable to
drive to Mass and other events.
Tutor for School Children/I>
Volunteers help children in need of tutoring.
Usher/Greeter/I>
The ushers/greeters for masses are typically scheduled for this ministry once every
3 months.+----
Playground Assistance
Assistants are needed weekdays from 11:45 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. to supervise Sacred Heart
students during lunch recess. Siblings are welcome to play during this time while their parent(s) supervises the
students. This is a great opportunity for working parents to volunteer during their lunch hour.
Prayer Chain
Parishioners ask for assistance and pray for others' requests and intentions.
RCIA-Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process by which a person
becomes a member of the Catholic Church through the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist.
It is also for those who want to learn more about the Catholic faith. Here at Sacred Heart, the RCIA
participants meet Monday evenings from September through May.
RCIA - Sponsor
An RCIA sponsor is a member of the parish who supports a person the RCIA by attending
class with them and being available to answer questions about the Catholic faith.
RCIA - Presenter
An RCIA presenter teaches classes in the RCIA program.
Religious Education
This program is the faith formation of the students of our parish that do not attend
Sacred Heart School.
A traditional program for grades K-6 is offered on Sunday mornings from September to May from 9:30 a.m. to
10:45 a.m. All students in grades 7-12 are expected to attend classes to continue their education in our faith.
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a Montessori-based program for ages 3-6.
Respite Care Volunteer
A respite care volunteer helps to care for sick or elderly persons so that their
primary caregiver can have time to themselves or to do necessary tasks outside the home.
Right to Life
This ministry advances the cause of life from conception until natural death. Within
the parish, this group is active in the following ways: 1) encouraging intercession for life during the Sunday
and weekday liturgies; 2) promoting parish involvement in the October Life Chain and Kosciusko County Right to
Life banquet; 3) encouraging respect for life via the Sacred Heart School curriculum; 4) promoting the life
cause during January - Sanctity of Life month.
Rosary Altar Society
The by-laws of the Rosary Altar Society state that all women of the parish, 18 year and
older, are eligible to be members. The Rosary Altar Society performs many functions in the Church such as
preparing funeral meals, reciting the rosary at funerals, maintaining the candles in the chapel, cleaning
linens for the altar and cleaning robes for the servers.
