Newsletter
Volunteers in this ministry should have organizational and writing skills.
Nurse on Call
Nurse volunteers needed for blood screening at parish events like the Parish picnic.
Nursery for Sunday Mass
Volunteers watch children while parents attend Sunday Mass.
Office Help
We periodically have bulk mailings, bulletin inserts, or organizational projects with
which we like to have help due to the time involved. Most projects are scheduled a week in advance and are done
during offices hours (8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.).
Our Father's House
Do you have time to spare? We need volunteers for even one hour. Please help with food or
retail. You will be put to work and will enjoy the experience.
Painting
Those with this skill work in conjunction with the Maintenance Committee.
Grant Writing
Grant writing knowledge or skill for school or parish projects.
Parish Library
Maintain books and periodicals for parishioners to read and use.
Parish Mission
In either Advent or Lent, a parish retreat is planned. Guest speakers are invited to speak
on different topics each evening Helpers are needed to publicize, organize and plan each evening of the mission.
Parish Pastoral Council
The parish council is a group of elected or appointed members of the parish who assist and advise
the pastor on matters pertaining to the overall good of the parish community. The council serves as a "sounding board"
on spiritual, educational and social matters. Members of the parish are asked to contact members of the council with
matters of importance or concerns regarding the parish.
Parish Picnic
A yearly picnic planned for fellowship and fun - come meet your fellow parishioners.
Photography
Volunteers take photos of parish events.
Publicity
This group makes sure parish events are publicized in newspapers and on the radio.
Prayerful Supporters
Parents gather together one day a week to pray for the school and the children.
Plumbing
Those with this skill work in conjunction with the Maintenance Committee.
Playground Assistance
Assistants are needed weekdays from 11:45 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. to supervise Sacred Heart
students during lunch recess. Siblings are welcome to play during this time while their parent(s) supervises the
students. This is a great opportunity for working parents to volunteer during their lunch hour.
Prayer Chain
Parishioners ask for assistance and pray for others' requests and intentions.
RCIA-Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process by which a person
becomes a member of the Catholic Church through the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist.
It is also for those who want to learn more about the Catholic faith. Here at Sacred Heart, the RCIA
participants meet Monday evenings from September through May.
RCIA - Sponsor
An RCIA sponsor is a member of the parish who supports a person the RCIA by attending
class with them and being available to answer questions about the Catholic faith.
RCIA - Presenter
An RCIA presenter teaches classes in the RCIA program.
Religious Education
This program is the faith formation of the students of our parish that do not attend
Sacred Heart School.
A traditional program for grades K-6 is offered on Sunday mornings from September to May from 9:30 a.m. to
10:45 a.m. All students in grades 7-12 are expected to attend classes to continue their education in our faith.
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a Montessori-based program for ages 3-6.
Respite Care Volunteer
A respite care volunteer helps to care for sick or elderly persons so that their
primary caregiver can have time to themselves or to do necessary tasks outside the home.
Right to Life
This ministry advances the cause of life from conception until natural death. Within
the parish, this group is active in the following ways: 1) encouraging intercession for life during the Sunday
and weekday liturgies; 2) promoting parish involvement in the October Life Chain and Kosciusko County Right to
Life banquet; 3) encouraging respect for life via the Sacred Heart School curriculum; 4) promoting the life
cause during January - Sanctity of Life month.
Rosary Altar Society
The by-laws of the Rosary Altar Society state that all women of the parish, 18 year and
older, are eligible to be members. The Rosary Altar Society performs many functions in the Church such as
preparing funeral meals, reciting the rosary at funerals, maintaining the candles in the chapel, cleaning
linens for the altar and cleaning robes for the servers.
